Dettol 5 in 1 Washing Machine Cleaner & Descaling Liquid

Finally Got Rid of That Stale Washing Machine Smell

Our washing machine gets used almost daily, so honestly, cleaning the machine itself was something I kept postponing. After a while I started noticing that the drum wasn’t smelling as fresh as before, particularly when the machine remained closed for some time. That’s when I decided to try this Dettol 5 in 1 Washing Machine Cleaner & Descaling Liquid. The process is pretty straightforward. I followed the directions on the bottle and ran the cleaning cycle without clothes. What I liked is that there’s no complicated mixing or extra cleaning step involved. Just follow the recommended quantity and let the machine complete its cycle.Hygiene: After cleaning, the inside of the washing machine definitely felt fresher and cleaner. Obviously, we can’t judge germs just by looking at the drum, so I won’t make exaggerated claims there, but as a periodic maintenance cleaner it gives me peace of mind, especially considering how much detergent residue, moisture and dirt can accumulate inside a frequently used washing machine.Odour removal: This was the most noticeable difference for me. The slightly damp/stale smell that I used to notice when opening the machine was significantly reduced after the cleaning cycle. The lemon fragrance leaves behind a clean, fresh smell as well. Thankfully, I didn’t find the fragrance unbearably strong.Residue: Another positive point is that I didn’t notice any obvious sticky residue after completing the cycle. The drum looked clean and fresh. I still prefer running the machine exactly according to the instructions rather than adding extra liquid, because using more cleaner doesn’t necessarily mean better results.Foaming: The product didn’t create the kind of excessive foam that would make me nervous about using it inside the washing machine. Everything went through the cycle normally. That’s important because the last thing I want from a machine-cleaning product is another mess to clean afterward!Stains and buildup: I had some areas around the drum where regular use had left a slightly dull appearance. After cleaning, the overall interior looked noticeably better. For very old or stubborn deposits, I wouldn’t expect one application to magically make everything brand new, but for routine maintenance it seems to do its job well.As for descaling, that’s something whose full benefit is probably easier to judge after using the product periodically over a longer period, particularly in areas with hard water. I’d rather be realistic about that than claim I could see invisible scale disappearing after one wash. One thing worth mentioning is that this is a washing-machine maintenance product, not a substitute for normal laundry detergent or manual cleaning of areas such as the detergent drawer and rubber gasket. I still wipe those parts separately whenever required. For me, the biggest benefit is simply convenience. Instead of waiting until the machine develops a noticeable smell or heavy buildup, using a cleaner periodically seems like a sensible maintenance habit. So far, I’m quite pleased with it. Easy to use, leaves the machine smelling fresher, doesn’t create excessive foam, and makes periodic washing-machine cleaning much less of a chore. I’ll definitely prefer using it at regular intervals rather than waiting for the machine to start smelling unpleasant again.
