How we pick
AI does the scanning. Humans do the checking.
Festive sales are loud. Thousands of “deals”, most of them marked-up MRPs. Here’s exactly how we find the few worth your money.
Every morning at 7. Before your chai.
Our crawler starts its run at 7am India time and reads:
- Flipkart. The Big Billion Days page, the home page and the sale pages they link to, plus 40-plus category listings and the full iPhone range. Then the product page of every shortlisted deal, for offers, specs and buyer reviews.
- Amazon. Amazon India’s deals, its bestsellers in every category we cover, and every iPhone model, through a real-time Amazon data service rather than our own crawler.
- Where deal hunters post. Public deal boards help us spot bargains early. Every one is checked at the store itself and scored like any other deal.
Search for something we haven’t listed and we check Amazon on the spot. If it’s genuinely on a deal, it joins the site. Every price is saved each morning, so over the season we can tell a real festive price from a marked-up one.
The Deal Score. One number. Zero guesswork.
Every deal gets a score out of 10, built from two things:
Price · 60%
How far below MRP it is, compared with what's normal for the category and with today's other deals. Bank offers help a little. A price hiked before the sale gets marked down.
Reviews · 40%
The star rating, pulled towards 3.9★ until enough people have rated it. A 4.8★ from 12 people doesn't beat a 4.5★ from 20,000.
9 and up: a certified steal. Rare. Don't overthink it.
8 to 9: a great deal. Buy if it's on your list.
7 to 8: a good deal. Solid price, solid reviews.
6 to 7: fair. Worth it if you need it now.
Below 6 doesn’t make the site. Neither does anything out of stock, or with fewer than 5 ratings. A deal with fewer than 20 ratings can’t score above 6.9, however cheap it is.
Humans in the loop. Because vibes aren't data.
Our editors review the shortlist. They feature the standouts, hide anything that feels off (a sketchy seller, a look-alike product) and can adjust a score, with a note explaining why.
The “Why it’s worth it” write-ups are drafted by AI (Claude, by Anthropic) from the store’s listing and real buyer reviews. Before anything goes live, every price, percentage and rating in it is checked against the actual numbers. Anything that doesn’t match is thrown out.
Buy Now always takes you to the store’s own product page. You pay the store, not us.
Our crawler. Polite by design.
It identifies itself as BestDiwaliDealsBot and links back to this page.
- It reads each site’s robots.txt first and follows it, including any rules a site sets for AI crawlers.
- It sends at most two requests to a site at a time, with a pause between them, once a day.
- It never tries to get past a bot check or CAPTCHA. If a site pushes back, it stops for the day.
- It doesn’t follow other sites’ affiliate links or copy their content.
Run a site we visit and want us to stop? Block BestDiwaliDealsBot in your robots.txt and the next morning’s run will respect it.
