Best Mid level Mirrorless
Fantastic Camera in the Mirrorless segment. Perfect clarity and crisp images. ISO flexibility is a great advantage.

Good beginner camera
I was a complete beginner when I bought the Sony A6100 in April 2026, mainly for wildlife photography. Initially, I purchased the dual kit lens (16-50mm & 55-210mm), but after several safaris, I realized 210mm wasn't enough for wildlife. I later upgraded to the Sony 70-350mm G OSS, and that made a huge difference. If you're buying this camera for wildlife, I highly recommend purchasing the body with the 70-350mm lens instead of the dual kit lenses. The image quality is excellent, and it's one of the best beginner cameras for wildlife. However, the autofocus and Animal Eye AF are older compared to newer Sony models, so tracking fast-moving or distant animals can be inconsistent. The camera also lacks IBIS, though the 70-350mm lens has Optical SteadyShot. After several safaris, I can say this camera has been fantastic to learn with and has helped me capture tigers, leopards, and elephants. I plan to keep using it for another year before upgrading to the A6700 or a full-frame system.
